Läheskään kaikki erityisopetusta tarvitsevat lapset eivät pääse kouluun Kosovossa. Kaikille avoin koulu tekee kuitenkin tuloaan, kirjoittaa kosovolainen Naser Zabeli. Suomi tukee erityisopettajien koulutusta ja muiden opettajien täydennyskoulutusta.

Opportunities to pursue education are dependent upon the availability of adequate access. In the nation as a whole, primary educational facility is available to only to about 70-80 % of the eligible age group ( unto 14 years) of the children. Some of the states are not fortunate to reach even this capacity.

Lukuvuonna 2005-2006 Taksvärkkikeräys kokosi noin 315 000 euroa hiv:n ja aidsin ennaltaehkäisyyn ja lasten oikeuksien edistämiseen Tansaniassa. Niin sanottujen Sara-klubien jäsenet koulutetaan kertomaan lasten oikeuksista sekä opettamaan muille lapsille ja nuorille, miten hiv- ja aids leviävät ja miten tartunnalta voi suojautua.

Taksvärkkikeräys 2004-2005 kokosi varoja Nepalin lasten ja nuorten ympäristökasvatukseen ja kouluympäristöjen kehittämishankkeeseen. Ensimmäisen hankevuoden aikana kouluympäristöjä on parannettu Nepalin köyhimpiin kuuluvalla alueella Sirahassa Itä-Nepalissa, lähellä Intian rajaa. Myös ympäristökasvatus on lähtenyt hyvin käyntiin.

Hän on huolissaan kasvavien pätkätöiden vaikutuksista lasten elämään ja vaatii, että lasten oikeudet ja turvallisuuden tarve huomioidaan vielä nykyistä paremmin. Haataista huolettaa lasten elämän yksinäisyys.

There has been a growing realisation that a system-wide transformation is crucial for the attainment and sustainability of the goal of UEE and MDG with improved quality. The objectives of improved access and increased participation, reduced drop-out rates and enhanced learning achievements cannot be met and sustained without improving the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of teacher in the elementary education system.

AID India, a non-governmental organisation working to improve education among rural children, was recently honoured in the United States. The NGO was presented with the `SF Bay Area chapter Achievement Award' for its pioneering work in improving the quality of learning in Tamil Nadu.
