Ne danno notizia i media più autorevoli, dal Washington Post alla CNN. Il Presidente del Comitato ristretto sulle Energie Alternative e del Riscaldamento Globale, il congressista Democratico del Massachusetts, Edward Markey, si è unito infatti all’iniziativa 'Virtual Bali' di OneWorld.net per partecipare alle trattative sul cambio climatico delle Nazioni Unite. È intervenuto, usando una versione animata in 3 dimensioni di sé stesso (un “avatar”). Markey ha cercato con tale iniziativa di dar coerenza al suo intervento risparmiando la quota parte di circa 5.36 tonnellate di emissioni di CO2 che corrisponde al viaggio aereo tra Washington e Bali.
